Dallas Temple

We've been to a lot of temples, but had yet to take pictures of our very own temple. So one very hot August day when we were at the temple I took my camera with me and walked around and snapped some pictures.

I Fratelli

Sometime in June I headed over to Tyler's work on one of my days off so we could go out to lunch. We decided to try one of the pizza places on our list - I Fratelli

We ended up at the Las Colinas location, throughly expecting a sit down place. Not so. It was just a carry out area. We ended up eating at a Tom Thumb nearby after getting our pizza. We weren't terribly impressed, it was better than your average take our/delivery but not good enough that we'd go out of our way to pick it up. Good try though.

Plano Balloon Festival and Olivella's

In September we went on a little date to something I always wanted to do. We went to the Plano Balloon Festival for their balloon glow time.

We were less than impressed. I think the fact that they were no beautiful surroundings diminished the balloon excitement. I really wish I had a tripod for this. I had to bump up my ISO to as high as it'd go.

They had a mini fair going on and we grabbed a corn dog in between walking around. 

We were starving so we decided to make this a pizza night and headed down to Dallas and tried out Olivella's

We weren't impressed. The pizza was soggy in the middle and had an awful lot of olive oil in it. Not one of our favorite places. It's kind of tucked away in a not so pretty area too.

After pizza Tyler wanted to introduce to his favorite treat that he gets every now and then with his coworkers. We went to I heart yogurt for my first frozen yogurt ever

I liked it. I can see how my husband really likes it. I would have chosen different toppings next time, but this was fun.  I just love going on unplanned dates from time to time.

Freedom Trail and Red Sox

Labor Day, Monday, Sept 6 

On Labor Day we decided to walk the freedom trail.
Our first stop to start the day was at my favorite bagel place we went to on Saturday morning - Finagle a bagel

I thought I'd be brave and try a different bagel, a salt one, which I proceeded to dislike and begged Tyler to get me a regular plain bagel with plain cream cheese.

We started the trail at the Boston Common. On the map you can see the red line that is the freedom trail, the red line is marked on the ground throughout the entire trail making it easy to follow.

We stopped for a quick lunch at quincy market. We also grabbed dessert at their ice cream shop.

At this point we realized that we wouldn't be able to get to our duck tour if we continued to follow the trail, so we decided to walk over to the aquarium and take the shuttle over to the duck tour.

The duck tour went around some of the stuff we missed out on the trolley and then we went into the water

When we passed this building, I told Tyler to look because I thought it was gorgeous. And then we realized it was our hotel.

Since we were close by to the Bunker Hill Monument we decided to go to that before it closed.

We went up all 291 steps and were up there for only 15 minutes. We were lucky they allowed us up, or maybe unlucky. It is not something I'd recommend doing. Maybe it's because we climbed a whole lot of steps in Paris, and ended up with amazing views of the city, but the Bunker Hill monument is lame. The views aren't any better than what we got at Prudential Tower, and there's nothing to see in the tower! Only one person at a time can see out the miniature windows. If you're ever in Boston, skip climbing the monument, walk around Charlestown and the nice grassy area around the monument - you'll be better off. :-)

Once we got back down I crashed on the grass. Man I was tired, and the grass was nice and cool.

We were able to go on board the ship, but not able to do the museum, Tyler was pretty excited and it was very neat.

We decided to have dinner at this little Italian restaurant. While looking at the menu on the window this cute little elderly couple was sitting by the window and told us to come in and that it was really good, so we did. It's right across Mama Maria and it was so much better, we loved it!

After dinner we went to Mike's Pastry. We had tried to go earlier, but you can see the line, so after dinner we tried it again and it was less crowded so we decided to get some pastries!

We hurried over to the subway because we were already late for our game!

Tired? Not me...

Once the game was over we took the subway back to our hotel, it was already late, and we were exhausted, but we packed, and only slept 2 hours before we had to be up for our flight. Tyler went straight to work and I  came home, I was supposed to go to work that night, but ended up getting canceled.

We had an awesome trip to Boston. We loved, loved, loved it! It is Tyler's favorite city, and my second (NYC is still my first, and I think it'll always be). This is a trip that we got along the best, and it was just very pleasant. We learned to not try to cram so much in, because we end up getting into fights. We can't wait to go back to Boston someday.
