Barefoot in the park

Last Saturday Tyler and I went to the Rockwall Community Playhouse to watch one of our favorite plays "Barefoot in the park". One of my young women was the lead in it and I really enjoyed watching her in it. She did so good and I felt like a proud mama. I hope she gets all her dreams. It was the best play we've seen there, and my favorite version of it.

Blog letters: neighbor

Dear neighbor,

It's a lovely day. It's 63 degrees and breezy, and the evil Texas sun is not making me feel like I could die of heat stroke at the drop of a hat. It's my day off. After a week from hell. You see neighbor our fence fell down on Tuesday when the storms came through, so my two doggies have been inside my house more than they're used to since I can't spend all day supervising them in my fence less backyard. So I decided to treat them to a little walk this morning.

They were having a grand old time. My oldest child decided to stop in front of your house and poop. You know... dogs do that. My back was to your house and maybe you didn't see me. But I stood there for a while because I was having a hard time getting the bag out. You see neighbor this morning before we left for our walk I cut two of my finger on the door. It burns like crap and that's why I have neon green and purple band aids on my right hand nonetheless. So I pulled out one bag and it had a hole on the bottom of it. For obvious reasons I wasn't going to pick up poop with a bag that has a hole on the bottom of it. Right? Absolutely. So I pull out another one and tear it more carefully this time. When I hear my dear sweet puppies who are patiently waiting for me sitting a few feet ahead of me on the ground looking like little angels start barking. I turn around and see you coming after me. I then look over and see your two kids holding the blind open staring at me too. That when you see me open up my bright purple doggie poop picker upper bag. I said "Hi!" in a bright cheery voice because it's my day off and I'm happy, I bend over and picked up the poop off of your yard. I turn around to see you and you're going back into your house.

Don't you feel silly now? See neighbor... when I first got Oliver (my oldest) I'd take regular grocery bags with me on walks. One time I was walking him and he went twice. Well... I only had one bag. I felt bad. I left the one little turd he did the second time on that person's yard. After that I purchased a handy dandy bag dispenser. Oliver's is grey and April's is pink. So as I'm walking my dogs I have two rolls of baggies attached to their leash. Next time I'm walking my dogs past your house and one of them goes poop in your yard. Fret not. I'll be picking it up with my baggies. Maybe you should get after the people with the great dane that roams around the neighborhood without a leash, or the ones that leave their boston terrier run around loose, or the people that walk their dogs without baggies. Please leave me and my doggies alone next time and keep your creepy children's eyes away from the blinds.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Much love,

Your responsible pet owner/neighbor

The night we lost our fence

Our fence has been looking worn for a little while now. It'd sway back and forth during windy days. We knew it'd be gone sometime in the next year. But apparently the weather had it in for us. Last night I was at the temple working. Tyler was home. Right when I was getting changed to come home I could hear some serious rain. Several of the workers were out in the foyer waiting for the rain to pass. The rain was going towards my house so I wasn't going to wait. I ran to my car and started driving. I called Tyler and he said things didn't look good.

There were tornado watches all over the place and it was pouring pretty hard
. While we were talking all of the sudden he goes "well there goes our fence". I thought he was joking for sure, but no, he meant it. We got off the phone and shortly after he called and said that there was a tornado spotted in our area, I asked him what the heck he wanted me to do and if he had gone in the laundry room with the puppies. He was watching the news and said it was moving pretty fast so I could come home. The sirens hadn't gone off yet, and they never did. I got home just fine. There was some serious debris on the roads from the winds, one of our neighbors had their fence blown off too.

I looked at it more closely today. Oklahoma got the worse of it, but the storm is moving and causing some damage in Mississippi. We really are lucky it was just the fence. I guess we better get going on those taxes.

Blog letters: husband

Dear husband,

You make me happy when you get giddy while watching "The Bachelor" with me.

You make me happy when you go to bed without me asking.

You make me happy when you bring me flowers for no reason.

You make me happy when you play with my hair.

You make me happy when I see you play with our doggies.

You make me happy when you make me chocolate molten cake regardless of how messy the kitchen gets.

You make me happy when you act goofy for no apparent reason.

You make me happy when you send me a super excited message reminding me I only have 99 days left of nursing school. Even if you did it a day early.

You make me happy when you eat my meals like it's your last one because you think it's so darn good.

You make me happy when you stare at me all googly eyed while we're out to dinner.

You make me happy because you want to take ballroom dance classes with me.

You make me happy. Always.

Love,

Wife.
