What happens when Thais decides to play photographer

Carly had her last baby at the end of October. A girl. I've been excited about this baby since I found out she was pregnant. She's sweet, and I love my friend. I begged Carly to let me take pictures of the little one. She, being the good friend she is, let me practice.

So here's what we learned:

I need to get better at editing, but for that I need photoshop... picasa is just not cutting it anymore

I really need to figure out my camera focus system better and pay attention to what it's focusing on!

I need to remember that too low of an aperture will blur the second eye

What appears to be pretty and focused on my camera screen doesn't always translate into that on my computer screen

Things I'm wondering:

Why aren't things sharp!?

How do you edit to make the baby's skin flawless?

Who wants to buy me a macbook pro and photoshop?

Dallas Museum of Art

As part of our get to know DFW goal (which we've been pretty bad about) we went to the Dallas Museum of Art with TJ and Sunitha back in August.

We first had lunch at the historic El Fenix in downtown.

I hate to say this, but after Paris and NYC museums the Dallas museum was pretty sad. I'm still glad we went though. They had some good impressionist paintings, and a fun outside garden area.

Afterwards we grabbed some gelato at Paciugo in the West Village

It was a fun day. We love TJ and Sunitha.

Joan of Arc Creperie

Shortly after we got back from Paris I started to crave crepes. How I love those little thin pancakes filled with nutella goodness. Tyler and I had previously tried a crepe place, but I was on the hunt for another one and I found Joan of Arc due to a livingsocial deal.

One Saturday morning back in August we drove over to Irving (40 minutes away) to satisfy my craving.

We shared a breakfast crepe and each had a dessert crepe. It was goody but we both felt they were very stingy with the fruit!!! Look at the strawberries... not enough for my taste. They were super busy and everything took a long time, but everyone was so nice. If we were in a hurry I probably would have been very frustrated, but since it was a leisure brunch date it was fine. I'd like to go back and give a whirl again.

Best crepe we've ever had is still from New York though. I miss Soho, and I miss crepes.

Dallas Temple

We've been to a lot of temples, but had yet to take pictures of our very own temple. So one very hot August day when we were at the temple I took my camera with me and walked around and snapped some pictures.

I Fratelli

Sometime in June I headed over to Tyler's work on one of my days off so we could go out to lunch. We decided to try one of the pizza places on our list - I Fratelli

We ended up at the Las Colinas location, throughly expecting a sit down place. Not so. It was just a carry out area. We ended up eating at a Tom Thumb nearby after getting our pizza. We weren't terribly impressed, it was better than your average take our/delivery but not good enough that we'd go out of our way to pick it up. Good try though.

Plano Balloon Festival and Olivella's

In September we went on a little date to something I always wanted to do. We went to the Plano Balloon Festival for their balloon glow time.

We were less than impressed. I think the fact that they were no beautiful surroundings diminished the balloon excitement. I really wish I had a tripod for this. I had to bump up my ISO to as high as it'd go.

They had a mini fair going on and we grabbed a corn dog in between walking around. 

We were starving so we decided to make this a pizza night and headed down to Dallas and tried out Olivella's

We weren't impressed. The pizza was soggy in the middle and had an awful lot of olive oil in it. Not one of our favorite places. It's kind of tucked away in a not so pretty area too.

After pizza Tyler wanted to introduce to his favorite treat that he gets every now and then with his coworkers. We went to I heart yogurt for my first frozen yogurt ever

I liked it. I can see how my husband really likes it. I would have chosen different toppings next time, but this was fun.  I just love going on unplanned dates from time to time.
