Utah Italian

Spring break weekend we headed over to Utah for a quick trip. So quick that I only took these pictures when Rob and I met for lunch the day we got there.

He wanted me to try Rovali's since I'm such an Italian food lover.

So yummy. Can't wait to go back in April!

Other things we did in Utah:

Tennis match for Kevin

I picked up Lisa from BYU

Marissa got baptized

Tyler went to a basketball game for Jace

I went shopping :-)

I also got my much craved Cafe Rio and Nielsen's Custard

Tyler served as an escort for Bryan's temple endowment

Got stuck at the Denver airport and got home late

Bryan leaves on a mission to Cebu, Philippines in April so we'll be going back for that. I want some more Cafe Rio, Nielsen's, Rovoli's, and this time I'll tag along a chocolate soft serve cone from Dan's.

BYU Basketball

The same Saturday we went to the Stockyards we went to TCU for the BYU v. TCU basketball game.

Once or twice a year we head over to TCU for the games since Tyler loves BYU and misses it since we moved to Texas. I oblige and tag along but bring reading material. :-)

I know nothing about sports. But the TCU horned frog came and hung out with us for a little while.

And TCU got a big whooping from the Y. Husband says we expected it though... who knew!?

I had been wanting to try the Love Shack burger at the Stockyards for a while.

It had gotten great reviews and I love me some burgers.

They had live music and it's an open area. Tyler was bugged because there was a lot of beer drinking and smoking. Music was good though. Reminded us of Nashville.

The burger is good. However, just like we were disappointed with In-n-Out we were disappointed with Love Shack. The fries though were very yummy. We have yet to find a burger joint that beats our local Big Star Burger though.

One of the stores we spent lots of time at the Stockyards was the Candy Barrel.

Tyler got some salt water taffy, they had all sorts of flavors.

And I played with hats. Don't I always?

Just fun to look around, and get some candy.

fort worth stockyards

One Saturday we headed over to Fort Worth and explored the Fort Worth Stockyards a little.

We browsed around some of the stores and the country girl in me was hungry for some cowgirl paraphernalia

Weird? Interesting? Funny? Cool? Can't quite decide.

It was a lovely day. Reminded me of how much I'd like some cowboy boots, and that I love country stuff.

Next time we'll have to make it for the cattle drive and tag a rodeo with it.

french breakfast

I love breakfast. But I particularly love "fancy" breakfast. Something lighter than your average Denny's or I-Hop.

On a busy Saturday morning we headed over to La Madeleine's for some breakfast.

Can you say delicious quiche lorraine, fresh croissants, and fresh fruit.

Happiness

Back in early February Tyler and I went on a double date with new friends.

We met Janette and Lee from church and they're kid free! Even though we love Carly and Kevin and their boys it's hard to do things with them.

We went to one of my favorite places - The Cheesecake Factory.

Janette is my shopping soul mate. We like the same things, and I just love her.

We went because I was craving their red velvet and original cheesecake - The Stefanie.

It's scrumptious. Go get yourself one!

Papasito's Cantina

 A few months ago Tyler got two gift cards from his work. It was to a place we had never been before and one weekend we decided to give it a go.

 The food was good (is free food ever terrible?). The atmosphere was irritating. loud music. lots of people, and lots of kids. Maybe a different location next time? Because those fajitas really were good.

Taylor Swift

On March 11th my best pregnant friend and I went to our first concert together. Taylor Swift. This was Carly's first concert ever.

First I took her to one of my favorite Italian restaurant in DFW called Avanti.

We talked for so long that we were late. But thank goodness the actual concert ended up starting an hour and a half from the ticket time because Taylor had two opening acts. We missed the first one Gloriana, but caught the second one, and one of my favorites Kellie Pickler!

We had bad seats. I totally broke my rule of if no good seats, then I'd rather not go. I bought them presale and the 300 level were the best available. Again I was reminded of why I have that rule. It's a completely different show from up close. I was so distracted by being able to see all the backstage stuff, and the sea of people.

Regardless Carly and I had so much fun. I'm so glad I went with her, instead of Tyler (who was originally supposed to go with me, but gave up his ticket so Carly could go).We sang along. We clapped. We laughed. We enjoyed an awesome concert. No wonder they're all sold out!

But next time I'll sell my crappy seats on ebay and pay too much money to the scalpers for the good seats.

Meet my new baby

Last night we ordered my new camera, a Canon SD1400. My little Sony is going off on a mission with Bryan to the Philippines. I'm so excited!

Grimaldi's

When Tyler and I were in New York last year we went to Grimaldi's in Brooklyn.

While we were in line for over an hour we talked to some nice men that informed us that they actually had locations in the south, including two nearby our house. 

Last month I was craving Grimaldi's pizza, at first I asked Tyler to go to NYC, but that didn't work. So instead we headed over to the West Village in Dallas to see if the one here was anything like the original Brooklyn store.

The restaurant was way more upscale than the one in Brooklyn. Our little appetizer was yummy.

And the pizza...

It was good, but definitely not as good as the one in NY.

Any Texans have a favorite pizza joint for us to try?

We also tried their cannoli and decided we're not fans of cannolis.

It was fun to get dolled up and go out. The West Village is so cute and I can't wait to go back during a nice spring day and just walk around.
