As many of you know I am a cardiovascular registered nurse at a hospital in Dallas and we are raising money for American Heart Association. You might remember last year when we walked for them with the doggies.

In the last 6 months

Hello everyone!

So what have we been up to in the last six months?

School, School, and more school. I'm halfway done with my Bachelors in Nursing. And because I'm a glutton for punishment I am registered to take the GRE in November with hopes to attend Nurse Practitioner School next Summer/Fall

However life is still somewhat fun

We've been to the theater a few times. So far we've seen: Evita, Wicked, Josh Groban, Guys and Dolls, and 9 to 5











Went to Florida for my 26th birthday
































Went to Utah for a missionary farewell

Celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary



Had escapades around Dallas to the arboretum, The Modern, and the Kimbell art museum












































In the next few months we will be heading to Italy, going to the theater some more, attempting to visit Dallas while avoiding the miserable heat (can you say over 100 degrees for the last 35 days?), studying really hard and doing graduate school applications, house remodeling, and keeping our heads above water

So meet you here in another 6 months? Ok then!

Come, Come, Ye Saints

I have always loved to play the piano, and I have always had an interest in song writing. That being said, I have never received any formal composition training other than a short seminar that I attended by Jon Schmidt. And I'm not sure I'd even consider myself an amateur: I merely dabble in it here and there for fun.

Anyways, I have done several arrangements for church performances, written a solo piece that I dedicated to my grandmother's sister and performed at her funeral, and written a piece as a wedding gift to my wife. However, I have never posted or shared any of them with the public, and I decided to be brave and share my latest.

This is an arrangement that our ward choir will be performing on Pioneer Day (July 24). I decided to share it in case somebody else is maybe looking for something. I'd be honored if someone decided to use it for anything really, but honestly no expectations from me.

Below are links to the sheet music. They are all the same piece, I just made a couple of "pianist" versions to reduce the number of pages. The first link is everything together. The second is just the SATB voices for choir practices. And the third is the accompaniment only, to make life easy for the pianist during the performance.

I hope somebody can benefit from this. If so, I may consider posting others in the future. And if not, that's okay. I still enjoyed writing it, and I hope it goes well for our choir.

Student once again

So here's the deal folks (as if people actually read this thing)

I'm back in school once more

I started my RN-BSN program and will be done Feb 2012

Why am I doing this??

Nursing has become pretty demanding on BSN trained RN's. When I first started school my goal was always to get a Bachelors in Nursing, never an Associates in Nursing. However with all the moving, getting married, out of state tuition stuff I just ended up with the ADN. I don't regret it at all. We were able to graduate with no school loans, and now my work is paying for my BSN.

I'm doing it because it was my goal all along. I'm also doing it because having a BSN will open up more opportunities for me like being able to work as a school nurse, or home health once we finally have kids.

So this means blog is taking a huge backseat this year. Maybe I'll blog about Costa Rica when these classes are over... until then say farewell. Life is filled with work, homework, sleep, and seeing the husband.

Costa Rica Trip

We spent the holidays in Costa Rica, mainly for Tyler's 30th birthday. There are many pictures to sort through, but Tyler was very good and put a video together of the first part of our trip. Enjoy!
