going home

The morning of my birthday we slept in until about 9am. We then headed off to Times Square Bagels for a good NYC bagel. It was a rainy and very cold day so the hot chocolate and the bagels were a nice breakfast.

We then took the subway to go to the Met. We walked through central park to get to it and learned why new yorkers have rain boots.

 

We only had about thirty minutes at the Met, and it was super busy.

It is a huge museum and beautiful. I'm excited to go back one day and get to spend some good time in there.

We rushed off to my birthday surprise. We went to Serendipity.

Tyler said he had picked it because they're well known for their birthday celebrations, however we were sorely disappointed. Our waiter forgot it was my birthday, and there was no singing.

We did try their famous frozen hot chocolate. Tyler really liked it, I wasn't quite sure.

 

He then ordered me a cake that was very chocolaty and rich, we were so full from lunch that we didn't finish it.

We left in a hurry so we could check out late and head to the aiport and come home. Our flight was delayed due to the weather so we sat in LaGuardia a little longer than we wanted to, but it was fine.

Our trip started off on a high note and ended in a slightly sour one. Tyler and I were bummed about my actual birthday celebration and how things felll apart. We've talked it over and learned from it. I am so grateful he took me there though. I love New York. Can't wait to go back.

We had breakfast at the famous Alice's tea cup. Neither one of us are tea drinkers but they supposedly had the best scones in NYC.

However Tyler decided to give a cinammonish tea a whirl. He hated it. I got Alice's hot chocolate and it was the best hot chocolate I've ever had.

The scones were a bit dry, but still yummy. I'm not sure if any scone is super moist.

We then headed to Madison Square Garden to book our all access tour.

We got stuck with the last tour of the day so we went to Macy's nearby to spend some time before the tour. We should have gone to Bryant Park, but I was afraid we wouldn't have enough time.

The tour took us through the theater and the arena. It also took us to a bar and hang out place for the players.

We went to the suites and I don't understand why they're so expensive. They're crappy seats! The circus was in town and we got to see a little bit of it.

We also saw the lockers.

Overall the tour was boring, Fred our tour guide was obnoxious, and loud. It was an arena, no different than the one I have in Dallas. We were frustrated we wasted our time with it and would not recommend it.

We had dinner at Joe's Shanghai, a Chinese restaurant but we were grumpy and I was food angry so I took no pictures.

We went to the hotel and changed for my final fancy surprise.

He took me to Promises, Promises at the Broadway theater.

It was the first weekend of previews and I wanted to see it to bad. I love Kristin Chenoweth and I was so excited to see her. But in the end Sean Hayes stole the show.

He was fabulous. So funny. I'm so glad we went. I wanted to go to this show so bad. It was funny, but kind of like Mamma Mia felt like to us, this felt like it was too simple to be on Broadway. Good, but simple. The cast is amazing, and it was a great show though.

I wanted crepes after the show, but everyone we knew of was closed. :-(

church and tours

On Sunday we went to church in NYC. The night before though I begged Tyler for breakfast before we went to church. Lucky for me there is a bakery right next to the temple where church is held.

We went to fabulous Europan bakery and cafe.

We both had a ham and cheese croissant and shared a quiche lorraine and a chocolate eclair. I just loved this little bakery!

We only attended sacrament meeting at the singles ward, and it was the best meeting I've ever attended. Church is so much better at the singles ward.

After church we had to hurry over for our Movie and TV On location tour.

Our tour guide was Bryan and he was fabulous. This was one of our favorite things we did in NYC this time around. You get to see a lot and without much walking and is a good intro to the neighborhoods in NYC.

We stopped in Soho for lunch and while everyone had pizza Tyler and I just walked around a bit.

The tour dropped us off in front of F.A.O. Schwarz so we decided to walk over and look at the big piano from Big.

It was such a neat store. We got there just in time for the show and we really enjoyed it.

We walked over to Columbus Circle to catch the subway to head over to the Upper West side for an early dinner.

We went to our favorite restaurant from our lat visit - Flor de Mayo

We went back to our hotel and changed and decided to take a night tour on the double decker bus.

It was freazing. We could barely hear the tour guide, and we didn't enjoy it at all.

 

We went over to Brooklyn and saw the NYC skyline from the same side where we saw it last time we were in NYC, but saw it during a beautiful sunny day.

Once it was over we headed straight to the hotel for some much needed rest.
