St. Louis, MO

Day 5 - May 19

We left Lexington around 9:00am to St. Louis. It was going to be a long drive! On our way to St. Louis we stopped at the Louisville, KY temple.






We were on the grounds for about 20 minutes and then off to St. Louis we went.


Our route took us through Indiana, so we stopped to get a picture.


We weren't able to get a Missouri one when we got to St. Louis because St. Louis is right on the border so there is no rest area right when you get to Missouri. So this picture was taken when we leaving to Nauvoo.

We went straight to our hotel to check in. We were pretty tired from the five hour drive. We got to St. Louis during rush hour and there was a Cubs and Cardinals game that night and the hotel was full of baseball fans. It was a bit chaotic.


We stayed at the crown plaza hotel in downtown, we could see part of the arch from our window.


We decided to go to the St. Louis temple and do an endowment session. We walked around the grounds for a little while before we went in. We got to be the witness couple and the St. Louis temple was absolutely beautiful. By far one of the prettiest temples I've been in.







After the temple we went back to our hotel and went to bed.

Day 6 - May 20

The next morning we got ready and walked through downtown St. Louis and up through their parks and buildings they have.




We had brunch at crepes in the city. It was sooo yummy!! I love crepes.





On our way back we hit a lot of the historic buildings. Like the post office.

And then we went up to the St. Louis gateway arch.



You have amazing views of the city at the arch. When we went up there was a private school group of girls that were slightly obnoxious. I was glad when they left and we were finally able to see out the itty bitty windows.





After the downtown tour and the gateway arch we decided to go to the Scott Joplin Historic House in St. Louis.



Tyler was in heaven. He got to play an old player piano, and he played Scott Joplin's music by memory on it too. It was neat to see him playing it, Scott Joplin is one of his favorite composers so he really enjoyed this part of the trip/




We then headed to the Missouri Botanical Gardens. We didn't have too much time at the arboretum and missed out on seeing a few things. But it was a beautiful place. It was a dang hot day.




















After the arboretum closed we went for some much needed ice cream at the famous ted drewes on historic route 66.


I loved it! It was so stinking yummy. I have been craving it since then.


At night we drove back to our hotel and got tickets for the cardinals and cubs game.





The Busch stadium is so beautiful. We had fun during the game. It got pretty chilly at night and I was tired, but I'm glad we went. You can see the arch from the stadium. And the cardinals won!



We were so tired after the day. We were going to eat dinner, but we walked back to our hotel and crashed dead tired. The next morning we had to leave early for Nauvoo. St. Louis started out rough but it ended up being a great part of our trip. There were more things we wanted to do and see there, but we only had one day. Maybe some day we'll go back, I mean, ted drewes would be worth the trip back!
