2 for 1 deal

Tyler and I had a very relaxing weekend. Sort of. On Friday night we went to the dollar theater and we watched "Made of Honor". We enjoyed it quite a bit. There were about two crude scenes that we could have done without. We also went out to dinner at Cici's pizza buffet. I'm not sure that was the smartest decision because we were both stuffed silly afterwards. It was nice to go on a date and relax. I had spent all day studying for a big test... about 10 hours.




On Saturday Tyler mowed the lawn while I studied for another 6 hours. In the evening we went to the temple with our ward to do baptisms. We love going to the temple. The Dallas temple is about 30 minutes from our house. We hadn't done baptisms since we got married, so that was a nice change of pace. Our bishop treated everyone to Braums ice cream afterwards. We then went to dinner at On the border Mexican grill for some much needed dinner! We shared a meal and it was very yummy.

Sunday was Tyler's first early morning meeting Sunday. I didn't feel very good so I ended up staying home, I'm not sure the chips and salsa sat well with me. I feel icky most of the day, and studied some more for my test. When Tyler got home from church he spent most of the afternoon e-mailing people in the ward and organizing things for the young men. Our puppies got a much needed bath! We watched The little mermaid and wipeout, and went to bed. In spite of all the studying and work we needed to do it was nice to just be home for most of the weekend.

Last Saturday we went and picked up our pottery at Color Me Mine. We haven't gotten a chance to use it, but we hope to have some friends over so we can put it into action!

We had lunch at Chipotle and then we went for the much waited Soft serve chocolate ice cream!





I was pretty giddy about it. It was more creamy than what I have been craving, but it was worth the try. I miss Dan Food's chocolate cones. That's what I'm craving. If only we lived closer to Utah!
After our ice cream we came home and just hung out the rest of the evening. Tyler had some work that he needed to get done. We got our tickets to the Sarah Brightman Symphony concert in the mail. We're really excited to go to it in November. She's doing a shorter tour and we're lucky enough that she'll be making a stop here in Dallas!

Lunches

Tyler always takes a lunch to work from home. Usually left overs, sometimes sammies, or sometimes lean cuisines. It all depends on how busy I am with school and how much I cooked. The majority of the time it's left overs. I try to get his lunch ready when I'm putting dinner away. Last night he was helping me put dinner away and packed his own lunch. It was late and on Tuesdays I'm in class from 8:00am until 4:30pm. I have to leave our house by 6:45am in order to get to class on time due to traffic. Being the slightly OCD wife that I am, I was in a frenzy at 11:30pm trying to clean everything I could possibly clean. As I showered and got ready for bed I remembered that I had forgotten to get my snacks ready for school. The grapes needed to be washed, cheese cut, crackers in baggies. I was too tired by then though to get that accomplished. I prayed and hoped I'd get up on time to do it in the morning. I whined to Tyler in frustration that the house was messy and I didn't get my stuff ready.

Tyler wakes up as I'm leaving the house for school. This morning while I got ready he got up too and I assumed it was because the dogs were bugging him. But I was wrong. As I'm attempting to rush out the door I saw that my sweet husband had packed me some cheese, crackers, and grapes. It just made my day. As I sat through 4 hrs of lecture I was so grateful for my sweet husband, and his willingness to get up earlier to do something small, but so thoughtful for me. I'm really lucky.

Tyler's new calling is....

Young Men President

He was released from ward organist, scout master and 2nd counselor.

He is still the ward choir pianist.

The bishop was worried the calling was going to take a lot of time and asked me if I was fine with it. I told him it didn't matter because I was used to him leaving earlier than me on Sundays in order to play the organ. I was also used to the mid week activities because he was a scout master. Little did I know that as the president there are more meetings. As his first day he had BYD/BYC and tonight there is a fireside. Oh well. As long as I know ahead of time I'm perfectly content with meetings. He had a wonderful blessing when he was set apart and I think he'll be wonderful at it.

Sweet Release

Tyler was finally released from his Ward organist calling! Tyler has been the ward organist in every ward he's ever been in. As soon as we move in they call him into that calling. I often thought it was a desperation calling, not so much inspiration. He's had this calling since he was 18 years old, of course, with a 2 year break while he was on his mission. So the boy has had this calling for seven years. I am ecstatic! The whole three years we've been married I've always sat by myself while Tyler sat up to play the darn organ. It's gonna be neat to have him sit with me during an entire sacrament meeting! I may not know what to do with myself. Does that mean I need to get to church on time now? :)

He has a new calling, but I can't announce that until Sunday!

Our bishop was pretty funny about it. He asked Tyler how he felt about the calling. And Tyler kind of mumbles a "I don't mind it, because I've had it for so long that I don't even need to practice anymore". At this point I'm getting jittery and I told the bishop what I knew Tyler wouldn't. I told him he's had this same calling for a very long time and that we couldn't even sit together at church since we got married because of it. The bishop looked a little stunned that he's been doing it for such a long time and proceeded to say that he had someone in mind, but needed to talk to them first. He called us about 3 days later to let us know that he was officially released and this Sunday was going to be his last one as the organist.

I love our bishop and I'm excited for Tyler to be released. We may not move from this ward for a long time just because of that!

Here's a video of our fur babies. April hates it when we blow on her face, and Oliver always comes to check it out once we start playing with her. The little wiener dog is Pattie. She belongs to our friends and we're pet sitting for them right now. They've known each other for over two years and they all get along very well.

Fun filled anniversary date

Tyler and I were all over the DFW metroplex yesterday celebrating our anniversary. I picked Tyler up at his work around 1:00pm and we headed off north for the day's activities. Our first stop was the one thing I was craving for the last 5 weeks -- Soft serve chocolate ice cream cone. It's unheard of in Texas to have soft serve ice cream that's not Vanilla. When the craving was first really bad about 3 weeks ago I started calling all over the area asking if they had it. It was ridiculous. I finally found Carvel. They're 23 miles away from our house so it's a trip to get there, but yesterday it was on our way to Color Me Mine. We get to Carvel and I'm super giddy because I'm finally going to get my ice cream. I put my hand on the handle all excited. Tried to open and nothing!



They are closed on MONDAYS!!! I was so sad. After waiting for so long. Across the street there was a Baskin Robbins. I asked Tyler to go in and ask them about it. I had already called the Baskin Robbins around our house and they had no idea I was talking about. But regardless I wanted to make sure this one didn't have it. Tyler said the woman looked at him as if he was crazy. So the craving is still here! We had lunch at Quiznos and headed off to Color Me Mine.
We had so much fun picking our dish and painting it. We chose a three bowl dish for the three years we've been married (everyone... awe!!).

















It took us a while to figure out what we wanted to do, but we were both happy with our finished product.


















We need to go back on Saturday to pick it up so I'll post pictures of how it turned out after they fired it up and glazed it.

We finished earlier than we expected so we walked around the mall and went to Ross, and Famous Footwear where I got the most awesome pink wedges on sale! I was very excited! I've been looking for pink wedges for about 2 months and I was glad to finally find some really cute ones and on sale! Tyler was sweet to put up with me and shopping for a little while. We then headed off to our restaurant. We had yummy Italian food at Capriccio Ristorante. We spent some time in parker square and took some fun pictures together.






When we left we headed home, but stopped at Chili's for our favorite dessert! Molten Chocolate Cake. So delicious!

We were tired when we got home, but happy.

We had a great day together and it was fun to do the pottery, now let's just hope it turns out good!

Anniversary Card
